Sweetened liqueurs, wine, or beer  may also serve as the base or be added. How would you describe the taste of a cocktail? As general rules of thumb:  SWEET can balance SOUR,  BITTER, or SPICY / HEAT . SOUR can balance SWEET,  BITTER, or SPICY / HEAT. BITTER can balance SWEET  or SALTY. We make the best cocktails.

A  salad  is a dish consisting of mixed pieces of food, typically with at least one raw ingredient. They are often dressed, and typically served at room temperature or chilled, though some can be served warm. Garden salads  use a base of leafy greens such as lettuce, arugula/rocket, kale or spinach; they are common enough that the word  salad  alone often refers specifically to garden salads. Other types include bean salad, tuna salad, fattoush, Greek   salad (vegetable-based, but without leafy greens). This fish stew recipe is quite simple, but the balance of  flavors is truly incredible. From lovely and familiar  aromatics like onions and garlic--providing the glorious  start to this recipe--to a hint of sweetness from golden  raisins balanced with tart capers. All the while, a white  wine and tomato-based broth marries everything together.

Spaghetti with garlic and oil is a traditional Italian dish that originated somewhere in the South of Italy likely  in the area of Naples. It is basically spaghetti with  garlic and olive oil, and it's considered somewhat of  a lower-budget version of pasta with mussels! It takes very few ingredients to make traditional pasta  aglio e olio--thin pasta of your choice, garlic, olive oil,  and red pepper flakes. The original recipe doesn't even  include cheese! I did take the liberty of adding some  freshly grated parmesan for extra flavor and texture,  as well as parsley for a pop of color.
